this is really beautiful. I love the slow and tender pace this story develops. I just went back and read the whole thing all at once, and you're doing a wonderful job with it!
I like how young Rose feels. Her sense of naivete combined with bravery is heartbreaking. Then at the same time you do a wonderful job with the old, weary and darkish aspects of the Doctor, his constant second-guessing of himself.
I'm looking forward to this going pearshaped for a while as long as you promise to make a happy ending!!
