On Companions

So, I've never gotten used to the Doctor having a companion other than Rose. That's not to say I didn't like Martha or Donna, but neither were Rose. Part of it was just me, and the fact that I loved Rose, but another part of it was that I wanted the Doctor to be with the person he loved. Argh. That's not to say he didn't love Martha or Donna, but it wasn't like the romantic love he had for Rose. So, no matter who he was with, I just wanted him to be with Rose. Of course, I wouldn't have minded if it was him, Rose, and Donna traveling together, because Donna was always good for a laugh.
That said, I've made it through these past 2 series because I knew Rose was coming back. I felt like they were building towards something, so even though Rose wasn't there, I held out hope. I was arguing that maybe Billie Piper could do Doctor Who and Secret Diary. Both of their seasons together is about the same as an American series. I knew it was a long shot, but I didn't care. Then JE kind of threw all that out the window. (Although I would love a special with Rose and 10.5)
So now I'm trying to prepare myself for a new companion. I'll say right off that I don't like this River Song. Something about her irks me. I hope that we never see her as a companion. So far I've been thinking I would like Sally Sparrow. I know, I know, her storyline ended and it would be kind of weird if she joined the Doctor, but I liked her a lot. I think she would be good for the Doctor, as he's probably going to be kind of mopey this next season, what with Rose and Donna gone. I wouldn't mind Jenny either.
Other than that, I'm not sure who I could accept. Any ideas, either characters already on the show or an actor you think would work would be great.
