Title: Circles
Author: wishiknewwho
Rating: G
Characters: Ten / Rose, OC
Dislcaimer: I don't own Doctor Who and it's probably just as well that I don't because it'd be nothing but hugs and hair ruffling for the foreseeable future.
Spoilers: None for DW; takes place in a world where Doomsday never happened. However, if you intend to read my fic Miles to Go and don't want it spoiled, you might want to wait on this one.
Summary: The Doctor helps Rose to fall asleep.
Author Notes: Another one that's been sitting around for a while. It's very short, but I promise that I have some very good things to come next week.
I'm not sure who beta'ed this, but my bets are on
salimali and
electrictoes .
He slipped into bed beside her. She turned over and frowned. It was 2 am.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Can’t sleep,” she said, pushing her hair out of her eyes with a frustrated sigh.
He kissed her gently, then pressed against her shoulder. “Lay on your stomach,” he whispered.
She gave him a confused look, but did as he asked.
“Lift your head for a moment,” he said, and when she did, he flipped her pillow over so that it was cool against her cheek.
Once she was settled, he slipped his hand under her shirt, smiling as she shivered at the feel of his cooler skin against hers.
“Be quiet,” he whispered in her ear. “And think happy thoughts.”
She closed her eyes and he began to rub her back in small soothing circles, the very ones he used to lull Kira to sleep. It only took about ten minutes before he felt her body relax and heard her breath slow down into a steady rhythm. Like mother, like daughter, he thought, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
“Good night, love,” he whispered into her skin, then laid his head next to hers on the pillow and waited for his own sleep to come.

...I just picked up Narrow Stairs for $6 on amazon mp3. I'm listening to it now and wandered over here for some MtG rereading. Finding a new ficlet was icing on the cake. =)

Date: 2009-12-02 03:56 am (UTC)I started what was supposed to be a short multi chaptered fluffy reunion fic, five chapters at most. It has since hit ten chapters and is growing, there is next to no fluff left in it.
I needed cute happy fluff. My own angst is rotting my brain.

Date: 2009-12-02 04:00 am (UTC)And I know the feeling. I tend to write a lot of angst, and then I just need a break and have to write some fluff.
Good luck with your story.
