Title: My Love, On Christmas Day
Author: wishiknewwho
Rating: G
Characters: Ten / Rose, OC (Kira)
Dislcaimer: I don't own Doctor Who and it's probably just as well that I don't because it'd be nothing but hugs and hair ruffling for the foreseeable future. Title taken from the song "Christmas Day" by Dido.
Spoilers: None for DW; takes place in a world where Doomsday never happened. However, if you intend to read my fic Miles to Go and don't want it spoiled, you might want to wait on this one.
Summary: The Tylers watch Christmas films.
Author Notes: I failed to post yesterday evening as I was feeling unwell.  Thus, you will get at least two, maybe three of these today.  Why?  Because the holiday season is winding down, and I have to make that January 1 deadline.

Rose grabbed the bowl of popcorn, freshly popped, and brought it to the living room to add to the spread on the coffee table. The Doctor and Kira had loaded it down with various chocolates and three large mugs of steaming hot chocolate, each filled with marshmallows.  Rose smiled. The three of them would probably be up all night.

“Mum, we can’t decide which film to watch first,” Kira said, looking up at Rose from where she knelt on the floor, a small stack of DVDs in her hands. The fairy lights from the tree lit up her hair and eyes, and Rose smiled, realising again how beautiful her little girl was.

Rose set the popcorn on the table and turned to the Doctor who was reclined on the sofa. She and Kira, working together, had managed to get him to put on his pyjamas early for once, and Rose was looking forward to cuddling with the two of them.

“I voted for It’s a Wonderful Life, but it was rejected,” the Doctor offered, sitting up to grab a handful of the popcorn.

“That one’s too long,” Kira said. “By the time it’s finished, I’ll have to go to bed and then you’ll watch films without me.”

“We wouldn’t do that, love,” Rose said, moving to sit next to Kira. She took the DVDs from her hands and shuffled through them. “How about we watch the Grinch and then Miracle on 34th Street? You love both of those, and that way you get to watch two. And I promise, if you’re still awake at the end, we’ll watch another.”

Kira brightened and set to getting the film ready. Rose moved to the sofa, settling herself next to the Doctor and then Kira joined them, snuggling into Rose’s lap. Rose pressed her face into her daughter’s hair for a moment, then slipped her hand inside the Doctor’s.

“Did you know that I can sing the entire Grinch song, Daddy?” Kira asked.

The Doctor shook his head and gave her a shocked grin. “You’ll have to show me,” he said, winking at Rose.

Kira nodded and then the three of them lapsed into a comfortable silence. Rose smiled. Everything was just as it should be.
